Hey everyone,
Merry Christmas! We are relaxing at my parents' house in Baltimore, and wanted to take a minute to post some useful links for folks traveling to the Asheville area. The first one, www.ashevillenow.com, a site created by a friend of ours which has lots of information about the town, where to eat, where to stay, what to do while you're here, and great pictures of the beautiful mountains nearby. The others, www.ashevillecabinrental.com and www.asheville-cabins.com, are rental property sites for those thinking of staying for a long weekend and wanting a nice place to crash. You can also search for "Asheville rental cabins" on your favorite search engine and probably find more information than you know what to do with. The most convenient locations to stay would be in the Fairview or Lake Lure areas.
A few wedding updates: we picked a caterer, and a menu, which we'll be tasting early in January. It's going to be delicious! And speaking of delicious, we've also decided on a location for the rehearsal dinner. 12 Bones Smokehouse, a West Asheville phenomenon, was just given the honor of being called the best barbeque in the country on Good Morning America. And if there's one thing I always say about Good Morning America, it's this: they sure are the experts on barbeque.
Okay, that's it for now. I hope the winter holidays are treating you well and you are starting to look forward to a beautiful summer!
Love to all,
Katy

Two parties are better than one.
Instead of "save the date", we really should have said, "save one of the two following dates, or even, if you love us a lot, both." But that seemed kind of long and awkward for a postcard.
Just so you know, however, in addition to the actual wedding in North Carolina, Katy's parents will be hosting a reception in Maryland for friends and family who can't make the trip down to Asheville. We haven't set a time or place for this party yet, but we'll keep you posted.

Welcome to the wedding blog.
Once upon a time, Will and Katy met.
This made a lot of people very angry and was generally considered to be a bad idea.
Despite some inauspicious beginnings, however, things have worked out for the best. And now, nine and a half years later, after much time together and much time apart, after three states and one foreign country, after two houses and one puppy and who knows how many plane tickets, we're finally getting married. We can't wait to celebrate with all of our friends and family, and this blog is where you can find all of the necessary details.
For now, just the basics: we invite you to join us on June 14, 2008, at the Allen family home in Fairview, North Carolina, to witness and celebrate our wedding.
Check back for more details, more stories, and possible embarrassing photos of us at 18...
